Zafu Comparisons
There are a few variables in selecting the most comfortable cushions to support your meditation practice. Listed below are some basic differences which may help you decide on the filling appropriate for you. Both stuffing materials provide excellent support for posture.
Kapok filled
Traditional stuffing used for cushions for centuries.
Zafus are stuffed with the soft, smooth, resilient seed pod harvested from the Kapok tree in rainforest regions.
Because it can be turned on its side for additional height, a kapok zafu is often preferred by those who sit seiza (kneeling).
Buckwheat filled
Zafus stuffed with buckwheat hulls are more firm than kapok, but comform to an individual's shape.
Versatile, shifting easily to accommodate body contours.
