Original Nature: Zen Clarity, Quietude & Daily Life
A storm approached a mountain temple in ancient China--and an argument broke out as to whether it was the temple flag or the wind that is moving. A visiting monk, Hui Neng broke the impasse and stated: "Mind is moving."
The storm continues on for humanity; questioning, arguing, and yearning for answers--Hui Neng's statement cuts through the impasse of our time, the tendency for us to continually engage in thinking and ideas rather than in direct, immediate experience. "Mind is moving" means that life is moving and happening beyond any ideas we have.
Undertaking awareness can foster understanding towards others simply by attending carefully to this Here/Now experience, this Original Nature of reality. This six-week course will investigate Hui Neng's (and others') incisive teachings.
